Frederick was born on June 12th, 1855 in Launceston, Tas.1   Frederick's father was William BURGESS and his mother was Sarah JARMAN.  His paternal grandparents were Richard BURGESS and Johannah SAUNDERS. He had six brothers and two sisters, named William, David, Edward, George Henry, Alfred Albert, Walter, Mary Ann and Eliza.  He was the sixth oldest of the nine children. He had a half-brother and eight half-sisters, named Francis, Martha, Louisa Laura, Jane Elizabeth Maria, Isabella Blanche, Alice Mary, Selina (Tottie), Maude and Mabel Isabelle.  He died at the age of 79 on January 30th, 1935 in Stanley, Tas.1
