Robert Ellis was born about 1844 in Layham. Suffolk. England and his baptism took place there on June 2nd, 1844.1   Robert Ellis' father was Jonathon BUGG and his mother was Anna Maria KING. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Joseph Ellis, Samuel, Jonathon, James, Philip Knight, Ellis James, William (James William?), Mary Ann Alice, Sarah Ann, Drucilla and Eliza Ann.  He was the third oldest of the twelve children. He had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Jonathan, Charles Randell, James William and Betsy Ellen.
