Dalrymple Mountgarret (Dolly Dalrymple) BRIGGS

Dalrymple Mountgarret (Dolly Dalrymple) was born about 1810 in Furneaux Islands, Tasmania, Australia. - Dolly was adopted when young by Dr Mountgarret and was taught to read and write. Dolly lived with Thomas Johnston a ticket of leave convict. Rogue aborigines attacked Dolly, spearing her daughter Jane. Dolly fought them off for six hours, and as a result of her bravery was granted land and permission to marry Thomas. They had a number of children of which Mary Anne was one. Mary Anne married three times, her third husband was William Walker. Mary Anne died 1906
