James was born on November 3rd, 1867 in Dalry,  Ayrshire, Scotland.1   James' father was Daniel BLUE and his mother was Mary TOWNSEND. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Duguld, John, Colin, Donald\Daniel, Margaret, Mary, Christina and Elizabeth Wilson McLeod.  He was the eighth oldest of the nine children.
